When by a Fire on Christmas Morning
by David Pease
when by a fire on Christmas morning
toys and presents under a Christmas tree
joy erupts without a warning
the tree decorated for all to see
Christmas breakfast with family all around
everyone is ready; no time to stall
at the table wonderful foods can be found
the presents stacked high about to fall
we all take turns opening our gifts
we take a break to let our food set
my mom skips a turn and my dad is miffed
the next meal will come; on that you can bet
joy erupts without a warning
when by a fire on Christmas morning
This poem is about Christmas morning at my house every year, and it is just a special time to be with my family. Christmas is special to me because my family can come together and have a time when we all get along. It is also when my family all comes together and cooks something for breakfast, and it is the best thing ever. David Pease, 8th grade student at Episcopal Day School.
Christmas Morning
by Lauren Andrews
On a cold Christmas morning in winter
We patiently wait to get our presents
All together with my sisters and brother,
We listen for the footsteps of parents
As we run down the stairs with joy and happiness
There are presents waiting for us to enjoy
The tree filled with new and old memories
Each of my siblings gets many toys
After presents, a great breakfast awaits
Bacon, eggs, and pancakes make a great meal
On a wonderful Christmas morning
We watch The Grinch as a tradition
Ending the morning with cinnamon aromas
We wish each other a Merry Christmas
This poem is about Christmas morning with my family and traditions in our family. Christmas is a wonderful time of year full of family and friends. I love Christmas because of time spent with family. Lauren Andrews, 8th grade student at Episcopal Day School.
