Even though the last few months have been anything but normal, and events that were set have had to be reset, it is so good to see some family favorites steaming ahead. The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia SMOREVIVOR 5K race, originally planned to take place early May, has been rescheduled for August 22, 2020. Although cancellations, postponements and reschedules caused by COVID-19 have presented many challenges for event planners, the Georgia Girl Scouts are bouncing back with a rescheduled date for the 5K Trail Run and Team Challenge participants. The race takes place at the beautiful Camp Tanglewood where canoeing, archery and obstacle courses are offered on-site. On race day, the camp will remain open all day so visitors can fish, swim, kayak, shop and enjoy the food truck grub. Keep this one marked down as an end-of-summer celebration and a “HOORAY” for local businesses who are showing signs of bouncing back from COVID-19.
On August 20, 2020, at 5 p.m. online registration will close. We will have registration at packet pickup on Friday (August 21, 2020) afternoon from 3:30-7 p.m. and morning of the event.
