Carrie Mcateer, 37, is a clinical research coordinator specializing in Phase 1 Immonotherapy and investigator-initiated clinical trials at the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University. She’s currently working towards her Master of Public Health degree at Augusta University. She and her husband, Jamie, have three children ages 8, 6 and 3.

One word to describe yourself: Colorful.

What quality do you admire the most? Dedication.

If you could do any job, what would you choose? I would want to make and sell funky jewelry and artwork on Tybee Island, Ga.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to work in the advertising department at Cartoon Network.

What’s your favorite food? Pizza.

Dream vacation? I don’t really care about the location, as long as it is an all-inclusive resort with amenities/activities for the kids and a variety of amenities for the adults..

Favorite place to take the kids? The neighborhood pool!

What would surprise people about you? My listening choices. I listen to a pop-Top 40 station on the way to work every day, listen to a mix of either alternative rock or hip-hop/rap at work and listen to NPR on the way home to catch up on the daily news.

Best thing about being a mom? I’m really bad about beating myself up for not always being able to do it all—balancing my home life with work and grad school. But my kids love me no matter what, and that always keep me going.

Hardest part about being a mom? Finding that balance of friendship, mentorship and disciplinarian.

Favorite indulgence? Fresh pralines from River Street Sweets in Savannah.

What was you first job? Cashier at Winn-Dixie.

Greatest hope: My greatest hope is that I can instill a strong work ethic in my children, while also nurturing their creative talents.

Biggest fear: That I’ll stop caring so much about so many things.

What are you reading right now? I guess I’ll be reading whatever is required for “Quantitative Methods in Health Administration.”

What inspires you? The “Some ecard” desk calendar that my husband gave me. I thrive on comedy and I can always use a laugh at work.

Song playing in your head: Wow by Beck.

Favorite college football team: UGA Bulldogs! I grew up in Athens.

Favorite TV Show: When the kids are already in bed, I love The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul. For family friendly entertainment, I’m currently digging The Amazing World of Gumball or the original Pokémon cartoons.
