Green Living
You can use those paper bags in your vegetable garden or even your flower garden to keep weeds out. Just flatten , put around your plant and cover with clean mulch. They biodegrade and add to the compost around your plants.
Don't forget to change out your light bulbs for compact fluorescent bulbsand turn your heat or air down when you aren't home. Eat organically and support your local farmers at the farmers market or rural vegetable stands. Just a few things we can change easily in our lives.
A few GREEN things we do
We have been in Germany the past 3 years and just recently moved to GA (like a week ago!) and we were both really suprised by how being GREEN is the "thing" right now. It's very cool, we just didn't realize how it was taking off. But Ok a few things that we do to help the enviroment.
Use cloth diapers and wipes, we make our own wipe solution
Use cloth cleaning towels and napkins
Recycled paper products (toilet paper, napkins if we need to buy them, paper, etc.)
use eco friendly cleaning supplies or make what we can (bio kleen, charlies laundry soap, Seventh Generation, etc.)
Eat organic when possible or from local farmers (as mentioned)
use reusable shopping bags (chico bags)
use reusable stainless steel water bottles that we fill up at home (SIGG, KIeen Kanteen)
Get our monthly statements and pay bills online (reduces paper mail)
We haven't yet, but are hoping to make our own garden and compost pile
RECYCLE!
Wash clothes in cold water
Unplug electronics that aren't being used
Hang dry laundry
Such little things help out in big ways! Just don't waste! Recycle reuse reduce.
