July 2010: Janell Knotts, 36, of South Augusta
Children: Ages 8, 6 and 2
Interesting Info: Janell loves to tie-dye shirts and has a black belt in Tai kwon do. Her husband is a Waffle House manager.
1 Janell arrived at Dillard’s at 10 a.m. for her Mommy Makeover, wearing shorts and a “mom” themed t-shirt. She promptly told Dealynn Fryer, women’s apparel manager, that she was a “pre-schooler” when it comes to fashion. In other words, fashion isn’t really her thing. No problem. Dealynn had pulled lots of clothes to begin the process of fine-tuning Janell’s ultimate look.

2 Although Janell can’t recall wearing a dress since her wedding, she was willing to try some on during her makeover. Dealynn explained that dresses look great and are as comfortable as shorts or pants, especially the trendy maxi dresses that are pretty and very comfortable. Janell tried on each and every garment on this rack. This peacock print was very flattering because of the knotting and ruching at the ribs. Look! She’s even sporting some accessories here

3 Dealynn gives her full attention to our mommies during their makeovers. Here she’s adjusting a studded turquoise jacket so that it hangs just right on Janell’s shoulders. In the second photo, Dealynn shows Janell how she can mix and match these turquoise and white separates. In the third photo, Dealynn explains how the knotting and ruching in this crisp white cotton blouse flatter Janell’s figure.

4 Jennifer Tran used demi-permanent hair color (which washes out over time) in a rich dark brown with a subtle pop of red. She cut the hair on the back of Janell’s head shorter than the previous cut and gave her an easy-to-manage wash and go haircut. She blew out Janell’s hair to add shine and to straighten out the curls, but the cut will look good if she simply washes it and heads out with her children.

5 Jennifer used a variety of Aveda products to add smoothness and shine to Janell’s hair including: Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother and Glossing Straightener, Light Elements Smoothing Fluid and finished with Air Control to add flexible hold to the style.

6 Lancome consultant Debra Myers pampered Janell with skin treatments, then moved on to add makeup. Janell can’t remember the last time she wore makeup (maybe at her wedding?), but said the products Debra used felt light and comfortable on her skin. Debra used shades of turquoise and blue on Janell’s eyes for a dramatic eye that coordinated with Janell’s wardrobe choices. She primed the lid with Aquatique eye shadow base in nude and then used turquoise shadow all over the lid (the eye socket). Next, she applied a cream highlighter underneath the brows. Dark royal blue shadow was used in the crease and corner of the lash line, in a sideways V (< for the right eye and > for the left eye. After Debra blended the shadows, she applied black lapis (a navy blue) eye pencil.

7 Debra uses a flat brush to apply blush and says it puts the color exactly where she wants it.

8 This shot gives you an idea of the products Debra used during Janell's makeover.
9 Janell was ready for her closeup! Our photographer, John Harpring, sets up a mini studio inside Dillard’s with a white backdrop.
