It’s Carnival Season

It’s that time of year again when 5462 Columbia Road is full of young faces and amusement by day and skies are bright neon with the rotating arms of carnival rides by night. The Columbia County Fair, in its 54th year, will open Halloween night at dusk to the enjoyment of the larger Evans metropolitan area. This year’s carnival rides include:

  • The Zoog Vogel, at 110-feet this swing tower requires dangling feet, an over-the-shoulder harness and lots of teenage thrill seeking.
  • The 720, creation of Italian-based amusement park manufacturer Fabbri Group, has two large swinging cars of 16 people that slowly reaches a full rotation for the pleasure of its fearless passengers.
  • The Moon Rocket seats a small audience of 20 riders who sit back to back on the 60-foot 360º roller coaster that loops… and loops… and loops.
  • The X-Factor features a long gondola that can be angled vertically forward by 20 degrees during the ride. The ride also includes new water jet fountains to make things more interesting, and fun.

Whether for the food, games, rides or just plain old fun, it’s always a blast to come out and enjoy the cooler weather and happy atmosphere of the Columbia County Fair!
