After twelve weeks of maternity leave, my wife went back to work last week. This included working the entire weekend, which meant I would be taking care of Evan. For a man who has never been in charge of a baby, that's a scary thought! Would I be able to do everything the way his mommy has done it? Would he cry a lot? Would I be able to get him to stay on his sleep schedule? All kinds of questions were running through my head.
To my surprise, the weekend flowed so smoothly. Evan is such a mellow baby. He hardly ever cries. Well, I take that back. He cried for about 30 minutes before Amy came home on Saturday and nothing I did would soothe him. I think he just missed his mommy. But that was the only hiccup in our weekend.
There were quite a few things to be done around the house in preparation for guests this week. I gained a new appreciation for all that my wife does around the house, while trying to care for a baby. It ain't easy! And I'm not the best multitasker in the world either.
The highlight of the weekend was watching Evan try to rollover. He is trying so hard and just about has it figured out. It won't be long and he'll be crawling. Oh, the places he'll go!
