Pick a Seat

Amy decided to take advantage of the free child seat inspection at Babies R Us yesterday. It proved to be very helpful in making sure Evan's car seat was correctly installed (and of course, it wasn't). Are any of them? I mean it takes a genius to figure out how to get the bubble into the middle of the indicator.

Three and a half months after he's born, Evan is now enjoying maximum safety in his seat, but now we face a dilemna. Amy noticed the weight limit printed on the car seat and it only holds up to 22 pounds. Evan currently weighs in at 19 pounds...and growing. The way he has been growing, it will only be a few weeks before he outgrows the seat.

The seat he is in now was part of a travel system that included the base and a stroller to the tune of $270. I almost had a stroke when I saw the price tag on those things! Thankfully, my mom came to the rescue on that one.

As we shop for his next seat, we're trying to figure out what we really need. All the seats meet federal safety standards, but some have more safety "bells and whistles" than others. We're talking $300 worth of bells and whistles! And that's $300 x 2 because we'd need one for each car! When does the price gouging end?

I think it's time for another baby shower!
