The Month to Move

Ok, so everyone says that we are so lucky to have sold our house during this real estate downturn. We even did it for sale by owner. But the glitch is, our new house isn't ready....so here we are in a cozy two bedroom apartment for a few weeks (and not a few months I hope). They say it will be fun. They say how much closer to the school it is. They say 'wow, no mortgage.' What they don't know is...we have no microwave...no garage....no place to put the vacuum cleaner, but we do have a nice steady rhythm of music with a deep bass playing nightly through the wall from 10 pm - midnight. I remind my kids I did indeed live in an apartment when I was a child (cold cold Chicago) and in college (crowded crowded UCLA) so the fun is highly overrated. I did get to the mall in four minutes though...which was nice. And I have to admit I have gotten used to sleeping in an extra 20 minutes. My beauty sleep needs it. I guess there is a trade off to apartment living.
