Colic

Who knew that one small word “colic” could have such an impact? The hours of colicing are from 6pm to 9pm every night. The biggest problem is having a conversation. When the baby is a screamin’ no one is a talkin’.  I think my step boys have the hardest time coping, if they think they aren’t getting enough attention when she is sleeping, they definitely aren’t heard when she is crying. The good thing is that we have a set schedule that happens every night and everyone knows what to do next, with a reminder here and there. “Yes, you have to take a shower tonight, you take one every night.”

Anyway, we have found that bouncing with her on the big exercise ball and driving faster than 35 mph, just like the VW commercial, are the only way to calm her down.

Does anyone have an outside the box solution? Did I say solution, there is no solution, I mean, ideas to calm the colic.

Colic

My husband had a special hold for a colicky (spelling?) baby. He would rest its belly on his big palm and the baby's head on his wide forearm, near his elbow. The feet would dangle free. My arms and hands were not big enough to perform this procedure, but it was very often a temporary solution when my husband did it.

I cried. That didn't solve anything. But sometimes I felt better anyway.
